Heritage of the Americas Museum

 HOURS: Tuesday - Friday: 10 a.m - 3 p.m. 1st & 3rd Saturday: Noon - 3 p.m. 
Sunday/Monday: Closed 

 The Heritage of the Americas Museum, is located on the campus of Cuyamaca College in El Cajon, Ca. It is a  cultural & educational facility showcasing the prehistoric and historic art, culture, and natural history of the Americas through four wings of exhibits: Natural History, Archaeology, Anthropology and Art. The Tropical Garden Patio, the Desert Garden Patio, and the surrounding landscaping may be considered a fifth wing. At the heart of the museum is their unique gift shop. Come and enjoy a “Journey Through Time” at this amazing museum, which invites visitors of all ages to experience a journey through time.



Every second Friday of the month, both the Heritage of the Americas and the Waster Conservation Garden next door grants visitors  FREE Admission


Natural History 
The Natural History Wing features a large collection of rocks, minerals and fossils from around the world

Here you will find a collection of artifacts that were used in daily life, religious ceremonies.

Dia de los Muertos in Old Town San Diego

 

Día de Los Muertos Celebration in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park

 It is time for Día de Los Muertos in Old Town San Diego! This pre-Hispanic tradition originated in Mexico and pays tribute to loved-ones who have passed away. The holiday is celebrated with uniquely decorated ofrendas (altars), elaborate costumes and face-painting, and time spent with family and friends. Fiesta de Reyes Runs from October 1st through November 3rd. Special activities planned the weekend of November 1st through the 3rd. Art in Public #4 Glorietta Bay Park, Coronado Island

 

Glorietta Bay Park Glorietta Bay is located on the south end of North Island on Co Located south of the Coronado Community Center, Glorietta Bay Park offers ample parking, a playground and a small sand beach with direct access to San Diego Bay. This beach is located in a protected spot on Glorietta Bay making it a favorite place for families and swimmers. Hot coal bins are available, and bounce houses are permitted in this location. Permits for events of up to 100 may be obtained by submitting the above Park and Beach Application. Art in Public #2 Pepper Park National City

 

Pepper Park - Seaside Seating #1 Pepper Park is located in National City on the east side of San Diego Bay. This 5 /12 acre park sits along the Sweetwater Chanel and offers a boat launching ramp, a well-equpped fishing pier with lighting for night fishing. This park does not have shore access to San Diego Bay however. In 2024 improvement projects were announced to include possible 2 acre expansion of the park,improved play structures and parking. There a number of play areas for children and familes, picnic tables and restrooms. The park is open from 6am to 1030pm.
