2024 America's Airshow at MCAS Miramar

America's Air Show took to the skies over MCAS Miramar over the weekend. Starting Friday September 27, 2004 the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar welcomed the public to come out and meet with the men and women soldiers that make up the armed forces. There were static displays from various agencies such as U.S. Air Force, Navy, NASA and various law enforcement agencies brought in aircraft and vehicles. Here are some of the highlights from DAY 1, Friday

Art in Public #3 Grand Caribe Shoreline Park, Coronado Island

Grand Caribe Shoreline Park

598 Grand Caribe Causeway, Coronado, CA 92118

Grand Caribe Shoreline Park is located south of the roundabout on Grand Caribe Causeway. Dogs are allowed on leash at all Port of San Diego parks, however I have encountered many people allowing their dogs off-leash here to swim in south bay. On leash or off leash please continue to clean up after your pet. Far too many dog shit piles left right ON THE TRAIL.  There is limited access to the shoreline. A dirt path winds it way south and around the marina channel for Coronado Cays. Be mindful that a high tide will affect the width of the beach.
I have observed everything from house finches, Anna's Hummingbird, Great Egrets to Willets while walking the path.

Bayside Park - Wind Oars 2004
Bayside Park and Gaylord Property

Walking north along the Bayview Bike Path you come across a series tall poles. Looking at older images of the area it seems to be a kinetic art installation from 2004 by artist George Peters and Melanie Walker. Atop of each pole should be a wind vane like structure but those have been removed. Unknown if the sculpture "Wind Oars" will be reassembled or removed after construction of the Gaylord Property scene in the background.
